OPTIONAL COVERAGE FOR EQUINE

LCI Merritt Livestock Insurance offers a selection of optional coverages for equine that can cover you in a variety of circumstances.

MAJOR MEDICAL / SURGICAL OPTION

This option reimburses you for veterinarian's fees for medical and surgical care due to an accident, injury or illness of the animal. This endorsement allows you to elect either a maximum benefit of $5,000 or $7,500. The endorsement will pay the benefit maximum per year, after the per occurrence deductible. (The major medical / surgical endorsement pays in addition to the Emergency Colic Surgery expense provided in your base policy.)

SURGICAL ONLY OPTION

This option covers veterinarian's fees that are incurred as a direct result of surgical treatment and miscellaneous extras. It pays a maximum benefit of $5,000 after deductible. (The surgical endorsement option pays in addition to the Emergency Colic Surgery expense provided in your base policy.)

RENEWAL / AGREED VALUE OPTION

The company agrees to one annual renewal of the full mortality policy regardless of the health of the animal at the time of renewal. The company agrees to pay the "Agreed Value" in lieu of the "Fair Market Value" in case of a death claim.

ALL RISK LOSS OF USE

Loss of use pays you in the event that your insured animal becomes permanently unfit to perform in his named event due to an accident, illness or disease sustained or contracted during the policy term.

AS&D STALLION FERTILITY

This endorsement applies to breeding stallions and is similar to human disability insurance. The company will pay full value if the stallion becomes permanently infertile, impotent or incapable of serving mares because of accident, sickness or disease incurred during the policy period.
